Van came home with a little note in his backpack. It was from a girl in his class and it said XXX (protecting the name of the innocent just seems the right thing to do here) hearts Van. It had a drawing of Van and XXX on the front and inside a picture of their apparent future house and some flowers. Adorable for sure. Even cuter, Van informed us that another girl actually presented him with the note on behalf of XXX. Hoping heartbreak is not in our future.
We've been celebrating in style already and still have a couple more fun events to come. Dumplings, long noodles, red envelopes and of course the lion dance. Happy New Year to all!
Zak aka "sweetie pie" has a girlfriend. Her name is Lily. She had a Romp and Roll birthday last week and he was right there with her to celebrate. They really are adorable together. "Sweetie Pie" and "my Lily" sittin' in a tree...don't think they are kissin' just yet tho!
Van had a homework assignment over Christmas to make a snowman for the kindergarten school lobby display. We pulled out the craft box (thanks Donna...it's still overflowing from that 3 year old birthday!) and set to work. Of course lil brother had to make one too but I missed that photo op of the creative process. I was rather busy managing the glitter distribution. But Van's finished masterpiece is on proud display. And for the record, Van made the only snowman with claws...Q-tips can be deadly ya know. He's an original...just like his creator.
We had an awesome Christmas. The boys were beyond excited. They were crazed. They were wild with jump up and down joy and kissing the presents glee. The two week holiday was too quick and too long. Having family here was just wonderful. It's sad to see the holiday come to an end. But the wait for next year will be so bearable now thanks to Zak's shock and surprise in asking "you mean Christmas comes again next year?" Yes, Zak oh yes...
Hoping everyone has a fantastic, healthy and happy 2012.
Welcome to our family blog. We were so happy to create this blog for our journey to bring Van home. Now we are thrilled to be adding Zak to our family and sharing our growing family adventures with all of you.
