School is out forever

Preschool that is for the Big Man Van. Hard to believe that he will be riding the big boy bus come September. We are currently placing bets on who will cry the most that first day...Mommy or Zak? Regardless it won't be pretty.
Van celebrated the milestone with a field trip with his classmates and an awesome singing performance which I promise to post soon. Mommy pretended not to cry and Zak did some major "Van chants" to entertain the audience. We love our preschool and we are so happy that Zak has a few years more with their wonderful staff. Now we prepare for our first summer of double trouble boys...it's gonna be some kinda fun!

Baptism Day-bruised and brotherly

It could not have been a more perfect blessed day. Zak even with his mysteriously bruised nose stole the show in his "special baptism clothes" as he called them and he loved the getting wet part of the show. Van aka Mr. Ladykiller in his dress up clothes was beyond excited to wear a belt and a tie...seriously...we could be on to a whole new fashion trend for him. Of course he looked so grown up that I am not sure I am quite ready for that yet. We were so fortunate to have so many family and friends join us for this joyous occasion. It was a wonderful day. And in classic brother style, the day ended in underwear, hats and flops with what else but holy medals. Do these guys scream fashion or what?

Gotcha 3 years now

3 years ago...really? Three years that some days feels like only three minutes and other days three lifetimes. Every day we have the honor of learning more about you beautiful boy and every day you surprises us with your sweetness, your silliness and your heart. What a gift God gave us in you Van...we cannot wait to see where you will take this world.

"Now, as always, the most automated appliance in a household is the mother."

True indeed that some days feel quite automated in mommyland, but today was truly an exception. The royal mommy treatment started with breakfast in bed. And then the much anticipated "surprise" preschool made ("it's a picture of me") gifts. The big winner again this year was the "My Mommy" story. Van has obviously progressed in his understanding of age and weight to some degree but some of his mommy knowledge is obviously pretty deeply ingrained. Compare this year to last...

2011

She is 12 years old. (I'll take that any day!)

She weighs 50 pounds. (again a win for me)

She love to eat salad. (repeat)

She loves to drink soda. (repeat)

She likes to go shopping for noodles. (his 2011 favorite food)

She is happy when I do all the right things. (true, true)

Her favorite thing to do is cook dinner.

I love my mommy because she loves me.
