Welcome to Big Boy School

Today was a big day for our big boy...kindergarten registration. Hard to believe we are crossing the threshold of elementary school already. Van is so ready. He actually thought he would be staying there all day today. He was clearly disappointed that he wasn't staying for lunch in the cool cafeteria with the giant dinosaurs painted on the walls. Our county requires all kindergarteners to take a placement test to create a bell curve for each of the classes. As it was explained to me, "to give these poor teachers a fighting chance". Our awesome preschool has been preparing us for this all year and today was the day to shine. We worked on drawing a picture of a person with 10 body parts, counting, the alphabet our name, address, phone number, birthday and don't forget identifying 8 body parts and drawing shapes, oh the list goes on and on. Little did Mom know that there were 8 very specific body parts we needed to know...can you say jaw, hips, waist and heel...yep we missed all four of those...my bad for sure. But Van did well on the things that matter...ABCs, numbers, name, speech and of course standing on one foot and hopping. The dad sitting next to me even remarked that Van "sure went in there with a lot of confidence". All in all a great success. So now he counts down the days till he gets to ride the big boy bus and Mom works on practicing how to not bursting into tears on that first day all the while drilling lil bro on his rarely mentioned heels and ear lobes. Oh and don't forget how little bro who is now "pretend 5 years old" works on his scheme for getting to ride that bus too. Big big love for these too big boys.

You know Tracey, I think when I need a good emotional cry, I am going to just come and look at that last picture. Brotherly love personified. PERFECTION.

(and there are PLENTY of times I cannot accurately find my waist...bad question!)

Have a great weekend!
