Dad's first of many funny dad moments...it's pouring rain...really pouring rain and here we are at the zoo and it's hot and humid and smells like zoo and feels like zoo and now we are soaking wet...but don't worry...dad has everything...or so he says as he's racing away with Van in the stroller and mom is left behind holding the umbrella, the backpack, the sippy cup and every other item any new mom would bring for a zoo outing (no 3 hole punch in my purse tho Cheryl!) but close enough. Anyway it was a laugh out loud moment for me as I realized that Dad did have everything cause he had Van so not much else mattered. Mom has gotten a bit giddy today...lots of laugh out loud moments for all-it could be the reality of 5 more days here or the fact that the 7-11 had real honest to goodness ice cream and gatorade or just a plain ole great weekend family day. Van went down to sleep with no fuss tonight for the first time, we had a big time splashing in the tub and we had a peaceful full meal at a restaurant. Can't ask for much more than that. We've seen lots more adoptive families today too so that's always encouraging. I'll try to get some pix up now...although everyone here is struggling with a wonky internet connection...

Just a few more days and you all can sleep in your own beds. . .what a treat to look forward to. . .especially when you peek in to see Van sleeping. But I bet you've discovered that joy already. Hurry home guys.
Much love,
Aunt Kate
Can I tell you that we are simply ENCHANTED with Van and we haven't even met him face-to-face yet? He oozes charisma out of every pore (of course Mom and Dad ain't too shabby either...) You all are the subject of daily conversation. Darren and Sarah were THRILLED at Ikea yesterday to "get glowy nightlights like Van's." He's two, not even in the U.S. yet, and is already influencing tot trends! :)
(Darren also slept with his eyes half-open on occasion...Scott still does! ;) )
Love you guys...and I'll see if I cannot find a three-hole punch for you all to add to the diaper bag! ;)
I just love reading your blogs everyday, and brings me the most joy 2 see the 3 of you together, and so estatic! And i was laughing picturing Scott taking off with Van. Not so much longer! Cant wait to have yall home. Love ya
1st trip to the zoo looked like fun while it lasted. Van seems to be enjoying every experience along with you. He's such a smiley boy! Too bad the zoo doesn't have kittens so he'd see what's waiting for him at home.
Dick hit a button, while he was looking at the pics., and all of a sudden we got an 8"x10" on the screen. Magic! We printed it onto photo paper and put him into the "family frame". The pic. with the big smile & Daddy's watch. It's my favorite, so far.
Foreign food is like college fare, it makes you appreciate Home Cooking.
Dick continues to light candles for you. Now he's praying for a safe and comfortable flight home, as we all are.
We're so happy for you and love & miss you.
Hi, y'all ~ loving following your days, especially since I've been there. But at the White Swan, not the Victory. Is it on Shamian Island too? BTW, did they ever make that wall of representative handprints? (If you have no idea what I'm talking about, that answers it! Will explain when you're home.)
We're about to host the annual Memorial Sunday cookout; Just think, next year we can invite our new friend Van (and his folks)!

CONGRATULATIONS!! We are so happy for you guys! and what an amazing journey! Thanks so much for letting us share your experience with this blog. We cant wait to meet the little man in person!!
From:The McManii" Jeff and Charleen!
Hey there Malkie3! Sorry I've been a few days behind in blog comments. Mike and I decided to take off to Hot-lanta for a couple nights over the holiday. Apparently it's a business only town, and even on holiday weekends, the hotels are CHEAP CHEAP, so we decided to leave dodge for a change of scenery.
Anywhoo, I love this place, it's a cool family town. I thought of you guys and Van this morning when we were at the world's largest aquarium in Centennial Olympic Park. We were at the little 'you can touch these starfish' tank and I saw all the little kids and thought 'I can't wait until S&T take Van to this place (or a place like it) - they are a family with kids now!'
Glad to see there are plenty of pics and stories here waiting for me! I know you guys already have tons of friends who are full of BTDT parenting tips - so I'll just add one quick from me: Go with your gut, and if it works then keep right on doing it, regardless of the "supposed to" way. Who cares if the diap is backwards if it worked. If not, well then now you know.
Random note: I LOVE LOVE the pic of T&V sitting on the train/bus. It realy makes T look like a mom - the parental bond is practically jumping off the screen!
Love you guys, stay strong!
