So today it's been one whole week since we won the lottery and met Van. And I am just the happiest, weepy mess of a mom Van could ever ask for. Our wonderful guide, Mr. Li came by this afternoon to deliver Van's passport. It actually states that he can "freely leave the country". So now it's real...WE GET TO KEEP HIM AND TAKE HIM HOME! I know other adopting moms had warned me about this moment...but man it's still took me by surprise. That little passport and now we are really a family going home!!!
And while I am in weepy mode, I also want to get mushy about my amazing, funny, patient and tireless husband...he is super dad already. Van just adores him, of course. Many of the families here are joking about their cuteness together since some of the other dads aren't getting near as much attention from their new little ones.
So it's been quite a day...happy happy tears of love and another day closer to that long ride home with two of the cutest boys a girl could ever dream of.

Okay now that i'm in tears for the 400th time. I'm so so so happy for the 3 of you. You & Scott will be the best parents Van could have ever been blessed with, and it truly looks like he was met to be with the 2 of you. Looks like he's known you forever, and just adores the 2 of you. Just like me. Love you, Can't wait to see the Malkie Family in action!
Eben and I can't wait to meet Little Van. What a beautiful family!! Thanks so much for sharing these photos and stories. It has been a joy to check in each day and see your adventures! Have a safe journey home.
Love, Erin
Crying in the coffee shop...I should have known better than to check your blog (since it's gotten me to blubbering on more than one occasion) while out in public!
You are indeed one blessed Mama. and your cute boys, equally blessed.
Can hardly wait to see you all!
Safe travels and Godspeed!
It seems like just yesterday I was super excited to read the blog posts about your flights/trip to China, knowing what was about to happen. And now YOU HAVE A SON and you'll be home in a couple days - the level of excitement is just so incomparable. I'll be praying for (1) safe (and not so cranky) travels for all, but also (2) that you pack successfully and get it all in! But, as long as Van gets home in one piece with his parents, that's all that will matter.
You guys be safe and here's wishes for a happy EASY trip home. Thanks for all the great pictures and stories -- it was great to enjoy the trip through your eyes. Looking forward to meeting "the man himself" soon!
